Sterling silver will oxidise with time. The dulling, greying or blackening effect is caused by exposure to skin oils, perfumes, chemicals and oxygen. To clean, use a silver cloth or 100% cotton cloth, gently washing with the cloth in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly before storing.
To take the best care of your silver, store in a cool dry place, preferably in a zip lock bag, separate from other jewellery pieces.
Rose Gold and Gold Vermeil
Rose gold and gold vermeil (pronounced vur-may) is .925 sterling silver expertly plated with a thick layer of 18k gold.
It is the perfect option for those with metal allergies due to the durable thickness of the gold combined with the base of sterling silver.
While a beautiful finish, gold plating can wear with time and from exposure to chemicals such as perfume, makeup and oils. To clean, simply wipe gently with a gold jewellery cloth or a 100% cotton cloth.
Store your gold vermeil pieces individually wrapped, preferably in a tarnish proof bag or zip lock bag and in a separate box to ensure it stays in perfect condition.
